Since the second half of the XVIIIth century, Szczytniki has been an attractive location, especially for the wealthy townsmen, who were building there their beautiful villas, surrounded by gardens.
This district was also the place where, in 1783, was arranged a park called “Princely Garden” – later “Szczytnicki Park” – one of the first parks in English style in the European also in Szczytniki district, in 1872, has begun the documented history of the building at 6 Bartla Street- initially a small neoclassical villa, owned by a merchant Johannes Promnitz – situated among trees and surrounded by a beautiful garden.
